The raising of my four children has indeed been the greatest...
The raising of my four children has indeed been the greatest challenge of my life, and I feel I could never do it without the help of Christian Science! This wonderful healing truth has never let me down in my joyous and exciting work as a mother. It has been put to the test in every conceivable way—like raising algebra grades from failure to excellent, and curing so-called children's diseases. My children, my husband, and I have learned to work together and to help each other make our demonstrations.
On one occasion my middle daughter was doing a maneuver on her bike and landed on her head on the concrete. Immediately she declared what she had learned in Sunday School that God is the only cause, and there is no effect from another cause.
I called the other children in and together we began working in Christian Science. But then my daughter started losing consciousness and became incoherent. So I called a Christian Science practitioner and reported this to her. Her answer was, "Oh, she's conscious all right, she's conscious of the Christ." She referred me to a passage in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which none of us will ever forget (p.332): "Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness."
