Man Exists as God's Expression
The true view of man elucidated in Christian Science reveals that he is God's perfect, spiritual expression. The real man is created not to get or to take in but to impart. This is the man of whom Christ Jesus spoke when he said, "The kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:21;
A mortal is the exact opposite of the real man. Mortal man has nothing within himself. From the standpoint of a finite mind he surveys an exterior universe and sets out to acquire from it as much good as he can. He believes not only that he has to get an education, a home, a job, happiness, but that he must take in his thoughts and impressions from external surroundings and influences. The whole process of his life appears to be one of acquiring from outside himself. And yet in spite of all his efforts he is, in one way or another, likely to remain insecure and discontented. The futility of a material sense of life is summed up in the Scriptural words, "All is vanity and vexation of spirit." Eccl. 2:17;
Let us here consider man's real purpose in life. The truth of man is to be found in the inspired Word of the Bible. Here we learn that God, the great and only cause, proclaims that man's true function is to witness to His perfection and glory. "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God." Isa. 43:12;
