In sincere appreciation of the benefits derived from...
In sincere appreciation of the benefits derived from Christian Science I send my testimony. Before this great light came to me, life was simply one heavy burden and weariness laid on top of another. I was far from well and had no possible joy in life. For thirteen years I had been a nurse and had wide experience in hospitals, as well as in private work.
Through the few Christian Scientists I met in my practice I was led to believe in the sincerity of the followers of Mrs. Eddy. Later a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" came into my possession. I read it, but gained no apparent help or understanding from it. Several months after this some of the authorized literature was left with me, through the kindness of a patient. I was tired and discouraged after this case, feeling that nothing would help me, as I must work although I needed a rest. One day I seated myself by the window in my room in desperation; it seemed as if I could not keep on. Then I reached for a Sentinel with the remark that if there was anything in Christian Science I was going to get it. I opened the periodical and read and understood these words: "God is all-power"—and all fatigue, weariness, and sadness left me. I was lifted out of my misery of thought to the most perfect joy I had ever known, and that night for the first time in many a long year I slept as a weary child might sleep in a loving parent's arms. I have never suffered from that dreadful sense of fatigue since, and my life is completely altered in its material aspects.
Not only have I been helped by Christian Science, but near relatives and friends have been benefited in a measure. Discord had given place to harmony, lack to plenty, and in various other ways too numerous to mention the healing truth has been and is still being made manifest. I am grateful indeed to "the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort," who through His Son, and in this age through our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has shown us the way to Life eternal.
