As a Little Child

A child did sing of birds and flowers,Crooned to himself a melody,All to himself, in quiet joy,Smiling, as though he did not see

From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

"Neither do I condemn thee"

They brought her to the Master—hurried her,Confused, and all unready with her plea,Into the presence of the gracious one.

Love's Smile

There 's the smile that 's above and around us, the smile of God's presence and power,Which reflected in beauty and goodness, bears token of Love's priceless dower.

Tenderness

As fragrance fills the air around some spotWhere lilies bloom in loveliness and peace,Their grace and beauty speaking of the strengthThat struggles through the darkness up to light,And bears its praise and gratitude to God,So tenderness doth permeate the strengthBestowed by Spirit, and bespeaks, sweetly,Love's blossoming within a life liftedFrom soil of sense and darkness into light,A life whose joy is grounded deep in TruthAnd bears its praise and gratitude to God.

The Ageless Christ

Eyes of the blind, look up and see!The glory of God has shined for thee!Out of the dark has a rainbow sprung;Banners of hope have the angels flung,O'er menacing clouds that scatter and fleeBefore the fire of a single starThat burns serene on horizons afar.

Security

As when a little child, Awaked from troubled sleep, Beset by haunting fear, Will to his mother creep,

Reflection

The flowery wood, the azure sky, The song bird's liquid trill, The singing brook and grassy bower, The distant wooded hill, The humming bee, the blooming flower— All symbolizing Thee, Not in mere cloud, or leaf, or song, But in pure harmony.

Activity

Dear Father, let me on Thy word rely, That I may daily prove, In every act and word unfailingly, The healing of Thy love.

Our God

Does the way stretch sometimes lonely?

Faith

Wherever pain may seem to be,Remember this: God is; and HeWill free thee from this mortal sense,And bid disturbing fears go hence.
