See the real identity behind the mask

In answer to the question “Is there a personal man?” Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered Christian Science, explains: “The Scriptures inform us that man was made in the image and likeness of God. . . . To my sense, we have not seen all of man; he is more than personal sense can cognize, who is the image and likeness of the infinite” (Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, p. 97).

Understanding the true nature of each one of us as God’s creation—spiritual man—was helpful to me when facing a problem at work. A new employee in our department initially seemed friendly, meek, and eager to learn. But when a coworker and I tried to train her, we found her quick to judge and resistant to any training.

Praying for spiritual direction, I thought about the counsel Mrs. Eddy gave to one of her students (referring to the spiritual understanding that diseases have no reality in the infinite goodness of God): “There is no personality, and this is more important to know than that there is no disease” (Yvonne Caché von Fettweis and Robert Townsend Warneck, Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer, Amplified Edition, p. 229). I found this so helpful that I copied these words and the paragraph they were in onto my phone.
