Unending Life

Originally published in the January 12, 1955 issue of The Christian Science Monitor

Christ Jesus said (John 17:3), “This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” Did he mean that an understanding of God and of his own teachings would reveal life without end? Undoubtedly he did. His own demonstration of Life in his victory over death was proof that he knew whereof he spoke.

The teachings of Jesus are elucidated by Christian Science, which unfolds the spiritual, scientific nature of the Master’s words and works. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” (p. 487): “Life is deathless. Life is the origin and ultimate of man, never attainable through death, but gained by walking in the pathway of Truth both before and after that which is called death.”
