Perception; reception; conception

Originally published in the August 1, 1890 issue of the Christian Science Series (Vol. 2, No. 7)

These words represent the three steps of spiritual development leading to the perfect manifestation of Truth:—first, Perception—the perceiving or discernment; second, Reception—the admission or entertainment; third, Conception—the apprehension or retainment.

These several footsteps which are necessary to development of the perfect manhood, of which Jesus of Nazareth was the highest manifestation to the senses, must be taken individually by each mortal before the characteristics of this wonderful man can be duplicated in himself.
