People who triumphed over eating disorders - Program 127

Guests: Name removed by request, Louise M. Snead, Margaret Rogers

When a preoccupation with looks and weight, and how much and what you eat turns into extremes—it’s probably time to take a look at yourself in a different way—inwardly—into what’s going on within your thinking. It’s said that about 7 million people in the US—women and some men—struggle with eating disorders. For some—like our guests—the problem begins in college. And the irony is—it’s not really about food. In some cases, the underlying issues center on identity or needing to let go of obsessive control. Our guests tell how they eventually turned to spiritual solutions. And what they learned about themselves and life—pulled them out of the cycles that they seemed to be caught in.
