Talk to coworkers, family members or friends and chances are that one or more of them will tell you that they’re caring in some way for an elderly father or mother. It’s estimated that on any given day as many as 5 million Americans spend as many as 18 hours a week caring for an older parent. These care-giving responsibilities can be challenging times for the adult children, faced with new demands on their time. After all, many of them still have families of their own to look after.
