Noting that people look forward to getting a fresh start, to looking at things in new ways, Diane points out that forgiveness is one of the ways we can let go of the past and move on to the new. If we’re not willing to forgive, it’s like dragging tons of garbage behind us—hurts, regrets, and so on. We don’t need to be burdened by those thoughts.
