WHEN IT IS DARK

As one who rises while as yet 'tis night,And at his window waits to seeThe first faint rays of dawning light,So wait I, healing Word, for Thee.

OH, DID THEY KNOW

Oh, did they know that God is All-in-all,That love alone the measure of that allness is,Then with what zeal they'd seek to knowThe height, the depth, the length, the breadthOf that which measures Love.

LIMITATION

What argues that we find dire limits setTo strength and sense and sight and all man hath—To comprehension of the one true pathGod's love marked for His image?

THE VISITANT

MANTLED in might, Love knocks at your gate—Love urgent of voice and tender of eye.

GRATITUDE

Not in words—too oft but empty sound,As lifeless as the swish and whirl of leavesIn autumn wind—is best expressed the grateful thought.

CONVICTION

Our bark of life full oft seems tossed aboutBy undercurrent and by raging wind;By billows lashed, frail sense succumbs to doubt,Then whispers Love, Protection seek in Mind.
