These
comforting, sustaining words of the Master, "Lo, I am with you alway," a strong tower in time of trouble to many a Christian throughout the years since they were spoken, have recently been unfolding in the writer's thought.
In
one of Jesus' parables we read: "And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
Christian Science
offers to mankind the greatest of all blessings, not alone in the regeneration of depraved consciousness and the restoration of health to the hopeless invalid, but also in awakening a sense of responsibility to prevent wrong conditions ; and this responsibility cannot be overlooked or ignored by those who wish to exemplify the teachings and practice of this religion.
The
lessons we learn from the children are often such as never to be forgotten, and frequently prove the turning-point in our decisions, uncovering in the consciousness of those years older in material wisdom, lurking errors and fears which would hinder demonstration.
One
may believe in the efficacy of Christian Science as a remedial agent; he may prefer to trust himself in the hands of a practitioner of this faith rather than to employ a physician; he may enjoy attending the church services, and yet not be a Christian Scientist.
There
are some who in accepting Christian Science have experienced a haunting doubt as to the benefit of organization in connection with so spiritual a faith.
When
Isaiah cried, "And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day," he must have had in mind the dawn of the Christ Science, for when the spiritual sense of the Scriptures is opened and illumined thereby, we are filled with joy and gratitude to see how gloriously optimistic is the chain of thought that runs throughout the inspired writings.
