In the Christian Science Bible Lesson

"Just who do you think you are?"

It's possible to answer this question in a radical new way, in the light of what God has created us to be.

Being the child

In our relationship to God, who is our Father-Mother, we find a spiritual innocence which leads to wholeness and healing.
Some theological teachings suggest that we must inevitably partake of "Adam's fall." But in choosing to follow Christ, we choose the freedom of God's spiritual man.

Second Thought

"Traditionally it has been the role of religion to blaze trails through the wilderness of difficult decisions and hard choices. But what happens when religion gets caught up in the choices and becomes part of the problem? ..."
When it looked as though somebody else's choices were shaping his days, this employee decided he would make more room for gratitude—the thanksgiving that acknowledges God's control.
Popular self-help techniques promise we can take charge of our time, our careers, our lives. But when things still seem out of control, it's time to learn more of the fundamental Principle governing all—God, divine Love.
About our cover—If we agree with the opinion that spiritual-mindedness is not tough enough for this era, we are turning our back on the very resources that surpass human energy and drive, and bring the strength we need.
Nobody really wants to stay in a rut—even if the rut changes shape daily. As we understand our true, spiritual nature, we move forward with spontaneity and freedom.
Christian healing embraces the whole life of those touched by it. It impels love for one another and restores our relationships.

Second Thought

"We've grown into a society that relies on SAT scores, Nielsen ratings, flow charts and polls, ... at the expense of the attention once paid to the human capacity for awe, for wonder, for gratitude, for worship—that capacity out of which [we] find God."

Our great spiritual adventure

The word adventure may be overused in an era always hungry for new experience. Yet there is a genuine adventure that brings not simply new experience but the newness of life in God's care.
About our cover— If people have been losing faith, it has been a loss of faith in a material view of God and man. But losing that faith is what often clears the way for a new, more spiritual faith—an understanding of the only living and true God, as the Bible puts it.
