Healing pain with spiritual truth
There is nothing fixed or permanent about pain.
Millions of people live with pain and wonder how to stop it. Drugs, therapies, and mind-cure techniques may help manage pain, but they do not offer complete or permanent relief. What can be done to end the suffering?
Understanding spiritual truth is an effective way to eliminate pain. In truth, we are not helpless or subject to whatever chance might throw our way. Every one of us has a spiritual individuality in God that includes enduring health and harmony. As we understand better this true individuality, our thoughts go to a more spiritual place. Beliefs and fears reinforce a view of life as material and mortal and contribute to sensations such as pain, but with spiritual understanding, these disappear, and healing happens.
Christ Jesus demonstrated the effectiveness of Truth in healing pain. When a Roman officer pleaded for his help, saying, “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain,” Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.” Jesus did not pack a bag of drugs or consider a physical treatment for this servant’s ailment. He intended to heal the young man with his understanding of God.
