Injured foot healed
As I was getting off the elevator in my apartment building one day, another resident pressed the wrong button on his new motorized wheelchair, and I suddenly found myself pinned against the wall by the wheelchair. One of the wheels was crushing my foot.
The man was so distraught about the incident that I felt the most important thing in that moment was to comfort him. I assured him that I was fine and helped him move his wheelchair and get set to go where he wanted to go.
As I headed down the hall, though, the pain in my foot was severe. My thought immediately went to a statement in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that gave me a spiritual perspective of what was really going on: “Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God’s unerring direction and thus bring out harmony” (p. 424).
