Everlasting Punishment
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: . . . Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
While scholars disagree on whether “fall” refers to sin or merely a calamity, they concur that God is present to ensure recovery. One translation has, “. . . though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong, for the Lord holds us by the hand.”
Geber, the Hebrew root word rendered good man, means one who is strong and triumphant.
