Don’t just deny it
I was amused by an analogy my husband introduced in a conversation we were having about prayer. It had to do with describing a cat.
“You might say that cats never have more than six legs,” he said. “Cats are never larger than a house. Also, cats don’t speak German.”
Those denials are all certainly true, but they don’t really describe cats. Saying what a cat is is way more effective than describing what it isn’t.
