Love for community brings healing
I was sitting in the lobby of my local auto service center the other day expressing gratitude for being able to even be there. When I woke up that morning, I had rolled over toward the alarm clock and instantly felt a severe pain in my shoulder blade area, as if something were being pinched. It was so severe that it was hard to breathe, and I needed help from my husband to get out of bed.
Normally, I love waking up every morning to greet God and hear spiritual affirmations of the blessed day I would have as His beloved child. That morning, however, I knew I had to get right to prayer so my thought would be spiritually uplifted in order to receive those messages! I made myself as comfortable as possible and started to study the weekly Bible Lesson given in the Christian Science Quarterly.
I knew those encouraging words from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, would support my reliance on Christ, Truth, to take care of all my needs for this day. I read the following verses from Proverbs: “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.… Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace” (3:13, 17). I felt certain that I could trust the truths of Scripture to lean upon as I prayed to refute the lie of pain and to understand that trusting in God’s guidance and government would bring gladness and peace to my day.
