Grateful for God’s tender care
Hymn 278 in the Christian Science Hymnal speaks of being “Cared for, watched over, beloved and protected” (Peter Maurice, adapt.). I would like to acknowledge with love and gratitude the honor that was mine for having been listed in The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science nurse for over 40 years. During this time I offered care to many, striving to express and rely on the care of divine Love; and I would now like to express gratitude for clear evidence of God’s protection and care in my own life.
One Wednesday evening, while I was driving home after a testimony meeting at my branch Church of Christ, Scientist, my car was hit by another car; it was a “hit and run” incident.
Startled, I immediately turned to God and claimed His presence and His help. With difficulty, I was able to steer my car to the curb and stop. The driver of the other vehicle had sped forth into the darkness, leaving me unable to read his license plate.
