Inflamed toes and resentment healed
A while ago, I was struggling with a problem with two of my toes, which were swollen and uncomfortable. The physical problem dictated what shoes I could wear, how far I could walk, and what activities I could take part in. I have experienced healings through my study of Christian Science many times in the past, so I was confident that this could also be healed.
Christian Science teaches us to turn thought away from the body and toward understanding God and our spiritual relation to Him. Mary Baker Eddy writes, “It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 390). We learn in Christian Science that God is Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, and Love. And in the first chapter of Genesis, we learn that God made man in His own image. Therefore, we reflect spiritual, Godlike qualities. This is our true identity.
The increased spiritual understanding that comes about when we learn more about our relation to our Father-Mother God brings about a change in consciousness. We increasingly see that we are not mortals subject to the vagaries of material life, and we comprehend the true facts of being: man as spiritual and subject only to the laws of God.
