Shine a healing light on it!

The Bible account of Moses leading the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt can be viewed historically, metaphorically, or metaphysically. It’s a great triumph of the human spirit, the overcoming of captivity. The word Egypt in the Hebrew language can be translated: dismay, distress, darkness. The name Moses in Hebrew can mean: drawing out, bringing forth.

Moses brought the children of Israel out of mental darkness and into the light. Sometimes we might feel we are in some form of darkness, some distress. But Christian Science teaches that the light of the Christ in consciousness is always within us; and in our silent communing with this light we, too, can find our way out of bondage, whether we’re beset by illness, lack, or age-related limitations. We can cut through the invasive static of the human mind, with its foibles, fables, and fears.

Every spiritual healing is a realization of our present perfection as children of God, a comforting assurance that God never created discord or disease. And “. . . if sickness and sin are illusions,” says Science and Health, “the awakening from this mortal dream, or illusion, will bring us into health, holiness, and immortality” (p. 230).
