A healing of fever and stomach pains
Original in Portuguese
One day, when I got home from work, I was told my oldest son, Eugênio, was very ill. I went to his room and found him soaked in perspiration and burning with a fever. He said he was also having strong stomach pains.
I immediately began turning my thoughts to God in prayer, and a phrase from the Bible came to mind, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Josh. 24:15). I agreed and affirmed that my house and I served the Lord—that He gave the orders here.
For ten years I'd been studying Christian Science and had accepted its teachings. I'd begun to have many proofs that when we trust God with all our heart, we find peace, safety, and support, not only for ourselves, but also for all our family. I had been learning that God is Life, Truth, and Love. And it was logical to me that since God is good—as my study had shown me—no evil or disease can exist where He is. Therefore, since I knew God was present with me and my family right there in our house, evil could not enter and disturb the harmony of the children of God, who we are. I affirmed we were only subject to spiritual laws. Those are God's laws, and they preserve our harmony and health.
