What's the background music for your prayers?

Rapping with God

I HAD JUST FINISHED watching the 1999 MTV Music Video Awards show, which had been heavily flavored with rap music. After the program ended, I went upstairs to bed. I always pray the Lord's Prayer before drifting off to sleep. This particular evening, I had said several lines before I realized that I was praying with a rap beat! It went something like this: "Our Father (boom), which art in heaven (boom)." I laughed at myself and then started the prayer again—without the booms.

The next day, I smiled as I recalled the incident, and then thought a little more about it. I asked myself, "What kind of music do I want to hear while I pray?" The answer came, "The music of angels."

As a student of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, I have experienced consistently good health and an overall feeling of well-being. Prayer has played an important part in this. Prayer that's solidly grounded on the allness of God, His infinite goodness and love, His power. Prayer that senses my pure and complete oneness with God as His loved child, created as His likeness. Prayer that heals illness. Prayer inspired by angels.
