As day begins

A Person sometimes gets concert tickets as early as possible, secures travel reservations well in advance of a trip, plans ahead for an athletic event, yet takes potluck on daily living.

The most important advance work we can do is to pray as our day begins. When we first wake up, we can begin to prepare our thought for God's blessings to be revealed in that day. To those who would ask what prayer can accomplish, the Bible is literally a testimonial to what prayer does and to the power of God to bless. This record reaches its height in Christ Jesus' demonstration of the allness of God and His ever-present goodness.

Prayer can activate our receptivity to spiritual truths. It opens thought to the fundamental point that God, divine Mind, made all completely good and that man is His reflection, expressing only good. Becoming aware of the infinitude of spiritual good helps us look less to human success or failure and more into the divine allness and the harmony of being. Understanding ever-present good denies power to discord, such as the argument that all we can look forward to is a day of tight schedules, impossible deadlines, unfavorable critiques, or even misguided actions. As we deny inharmonies a place in our thinking, they become harmless and homeless in our being. Persistent prayer is a washing or purifying of thought; it helps remove the residue of yesterday's doubts and the clouds of tomorrow's fears.
