A few years ago, my husband called me to say our son had been injured. While our son was helping to move an upright piano, the instrument had tipped, landing on the boy's foot.
Our son, a Sunday School student, wanted to rely on Christian Science treatment for healing. We called a Christian Science practitioner to give us prayerful help. That evening we prayed together, affirming the truth of his inseparability from God, who is all good. The next morning, when pain and swelling were apparent, my husband was very concerned. Because he is not a Christian Scientist, we agreed to make an appointment for the child with husband's physician.
X-rays showed what was called a fracture, meaning the skin was intact but that bones were broken in toes of the foot. Noting that the injury was quite serious, the physician made arrangements for us to see a foot specialist; at our initial visit with this doctor, he strongly recommended surgery.
