The Consciousness of God's Care
Tossed by a raging storm, fearing for their lives, Jesus' disciples asked, "Master, carest thou not that we perish?" Mark 4:38;
Jesus, who had been asleep, awoke and stilled the storm. He did not hesitate in sympathy or uncertainty. He knew that his Father, God, at that very moment was caring for them. Jesus was conscious of divine care—unceasing, ever available, instantly effective.
Circumstances challenge us to love each other, provide for each other, to assume a degree of responsibility for each other's well being. Governments, private organizations, and heads of households often wonder where to turn for help in doing this. Christ Jesus' followers learned to turn to him; yet Jesus was quick to explain that he was not the source of the good they were experiencing: "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." John 14:10;
