The Healing of Tension
Pick up a piece of elastic, or even of string, and pull both ends. The result is tension. Stretch a piece of material to cover a chair, haul in a sail or put pressure in your tires, and you've produced tension.
But when people say they suffer from tension, and long for relief from it, what do they mean? They are talking about a different form of tension. Though it frequently results in painful physical conditions, its origin is mental and emotional. But it still comes from the apparent exertion of one force against another. It can be healed because in spiritual reality there are not two powers, but one only, the power of God.
In Christian Science the healing of tension, whether evidenced in mental disturbance or physical pain, is brought about by understanding and demonstration of the fact that man, God's image, being spiritual, not material, is incapable of being caught within the pull of opposing forces.
