It would take too much space to relate all my reasons for being grateful. However, let me first acknowledge that my growing spiritual understanding gained through the study of Christian Science is leading me gradually away from selfish thoughts and self-righteousness. Many times right thinking has healed me of anxiety and a false sense of responsibility. I have learned to trust in God's promise, "I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight" (Isa. 45:2).

God has been my only physician, and I have proven that "the divine Mind is the scientific healer," as Mrs. Eddy states in Miscellaneous Writings (p. 59).

At one time I seemed to have lost all motive power and was in great pain. I realized I had strongly resented some words spoken to me by a friend. I sincerely strove to correct my thinking, using such Bible citations as these: "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me" (Ps. 51:10); "Cleanse thou me from secret faults" (Ps. 19:12). A Christian Science practitioner listed in The Christian Science Journal was giving me treatment through prayer. I realized that there was no one in God's kingdom who could hurt me. I humbly accepted my lesson, and as I persevered, I learned to walk once more and use my limbs naturally. I was able to return to my duties in my branch church.
