Christian Science came into my life over twenty years ago, as I was about to set out on a business trip to Norway. For some time I had noticed that my wife was reading a little black book, and I asked her to let me take it with me. The book was "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. In the three days and nights it took to get my baggage through the customs in Oslo I simply devoured the book. It revolutionized my future life. When I arrived home, my family was surprised to find that I no longer smoked. That habit, although detrimental to my health, I had not been able to overcome, despite various attempts to abandon it.

My further study of the textbook resulted in the dissolution of a business partnership of many years' standing with one who had sought to dominate and impose upon me, and the founding of a business which I began to develop along the lines Christian Science teaches, trusting to God's guidance for its management.

During the war my family felt God's protecting arm on many occasions; and physical difficulties, such as measles, tonsillitis, and pneumonia, were overcome.
