I did not accept Christian Science for the healing of the body, and I never was healed until thoroughly convinced that it was the truth. I now see that I searched the pages of our text-book first for the healing of sin. Later, when I needed physical healing, I found it.

In the fall of 1908 I was visiting an uncle on his farm and while there was taken very ill. As there were no Scientists anywhere near me, I was at first very much frightened, as my uncle called a physician, who came and diagnosed the case as a fever. While he was there, these words came to me, "Choose you this day whom ye will serve." I refused to accept medical treatment, feeling that if God was everywhere, He must be there too. Then I asked a practitioner to help me, and a sense of peace and happiness came to me. In a few days I was free from almost all the symptoms, although the doctor had said they would last for at least three months. In less than three weeks I was well and filling a new position in a strange city, a position which demanded especially close attention and mental effort. I am indeed grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for what she has done for all humanity.
