Witchcraft and evil spirits destroyed

Originally published in the 1977 pamphlet titled “Witchcraft and Evil Spirits Destroyed”

In many parts of the world people still believe in witchcraft, family spirits, and evil spirits. They think there is such a power as ancestral spirits that control their lives and punish them if they do wrong or fail to observe their tribal customs. Such people believe that diseases and troubles are caused by supposed spirits or by witches that have cast spells on them.

People accept such beliefs largely because their fathers and grandfathers believe them. An insect caught in a spider's web will struggle desperately to free itself, as will a wild beast that has fallen into a trap. But the belief in witchcraft and spirits has for centuries been a way of life for so many that they do not even attempt to resist. Yet there is a way out.
