Progress through Church

I had to prayerfully deal with resistance to progress, because progress appears to bring more work for everyone. 

Prayer for the congregation

I have to admit I find praying for the congregation one of the hardest disciplines because it’s so easy to get distracted in ways that are self-centered.

The Church Manual—our shepherd

The Manual is there for us—has been since 1895. It’s not running to us or poking at us with a stick when we run astray. It’s there shepherding, guiding us.

Love + Gratitude = Abundance

Members were encouraged to take a moment to remember in their hearts why they felt grateful for church before passing the collection bag to the next person.

My sense of church became enlivened. I felt more of a connectedness to Christian Scientists everywhere.
