The announcement by the local Christian Science church of a public lecture seems to make pertinent some observations in regard to this world-wide religious movement.
In a recent issue, in reporting the Episcopal conference, Bishop Brewer of Montana is quoted as saying: "There is a great deal of good in Christian Science, but their theology is as false as hell.
I notice in a recent issue, in an article entitled "A Higher Thought Pilgrimage," the writer remarks that Christian Scientists refuse "to recognize the actual existence of disease.
An editorial in a recent issue calls attention to some statements by eminent surgeons attributing appendicitis to mental causes.
In a recent issue there is a reference to Christian Science in which the writer says that he is going to cure himself of gout by contraries, and thinks of joining the Christian Scientists.
It is evident that Jesus knew from his experience with some of his disciples that the time would come when there would be divers sects and denominations spring up, and in order that future generations might be able to distinguish between those who believed.
