No pain or breakage after a fall

A number of years ago, a friend said to me, “Your favorite synonym for God is Spirit, isn’t it?” I don’t think I had realized how many times we had shared the wonderful, powerful Bible stories about God’s infinite spiritual power, especially as demonstrated by Christ Jesus.

Over a period of many years, I have loved reading and listening to the biblical accounts of Jesus, accounts indicating that he must have completely claimed his spiritual identity time and time again. Jesus taught that we are all God’s, Spirit’s, beloved children, and as this truth permeates our thinking each day, we see how natural it is to realize that only Spirit is real—that matter has never been an actual reality, because infinite Spirit is the only cause and creator. In the Bible we read, “Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all” (I Chronicles 29:11).

About six years ago, God’s infinite power was proved in my experience. I had moved to a lovely retirement home for Christian Scientists. Within a few weeks of my arrival, residents received an invitation for a trip to a nearby museum, preceded by lunch out. I looked forward to the occasion.
