Joy cancels back pain

I once had a healing of back pain after reading the article “The Fullness of Joy” by Rosemary C. Cobham (June 2, 1956, Sentinel).

The pain started suddenly when I woke up one morning, and I went through the day with difficulty moving around and getting in and out of the car. In the evening I spent two hours praying about this condition without any apparent results. A dear family member who did not study Christian Science asked me why I did not just take an aspirin. I explained that while I wanted to get rid of the pain, I did not want to miss the opportunity to learn more about my true source, God, and my relationship to Him. I knew this would not only heal the condition, but also contribute to my spiritual growth—something the aspirin would not do.

Sometime later that evening, I was led to open a particular copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and in it I found a folded photocopy of this article (“The Fullness of Joy”) that my mother-in-law had made at a Christian Science Reading Room and had given me long before. After reading it, I realized my problem was related to a lack of joy due to feeling burdened. The spiritual insights in the article changed my thought and helped me recover my God-given joy. Suddenly all the pain left, and I was free. I am very grateful to the author of the article, and to all those who listen and obey divine guidance to bring the truth to whoever has a need.
