I have had many healings in Christian Science of athletic injuries

I have had many healings in Christian Science of athletic injuries. Most healings came quickly when gratitude and love filled my thought. One day, for example, while cross-country skiing, I seemed to pull a groin muscle. I was initially tempted to feel resentful. But I was reminded to express gratitude for the beauties revealed by the day, including the spiritual qualities of those sharing the trail.

Gratitude opens our thought to God's goodness at hand and thus prepares us to accept the spiritual facts that will correct a difficulty, or misperception of reality. We can then see more clearly our spiritual nature as the expression of God, good, moving in accord with God's unchanging law. And there could never be a penalty in God's law for expressing good.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "We cannot in reality suffer from breaking anything except a moral or spiritual law" (p. 381). Thus gratitude was what enabled me to turn the situation around. I decided to continue, and managed to ski with little pain. I continued to pray, and when I ran ten miles without the slightest pain six days later, I knew the healing was complete.
