Loving God brings healing
When we love God with all our heart, we can expect, in turn, to feel—and to be healed by—His love.
Bugle was a tricolored beagle hound who was with our family for many years. He was generally happiest when we lowered the car window enough for his nose, or better yet his head, to protrude so he could feel the wind.
Recently, reminiscing over this behavior of our dear family pet, I realized that it contained a simple, homely lesson for me about reaching out to God. God is ever-present Love, but to feel His love we need to open the window—our thought—and reach out. How can we do that? By loving Him! Loving God is like opening the window. Effort may be required, but our love for God opens to us His love, and it always brings a sense of well-being.
Christ Jesus said, "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. Here is an example of God's love for us in a promise—and quite a promise, not only of healing but of everlasting life! We must believe though. Does this believing require a great deal of human knowledge and intellectual activity? No; true believing involves having confidence in God and His Christ. But this confidence must stem from a love of God and a true, spiritual understanding of Jesus' life and works.
