Announcing a new edition of the Pastor—the Sterling Edition
The Office of the Publisher’s Agent, Mary Baker Eddy’s Writings, is delighted—more than that, thrilled—to announce the forthcoming publication of a new size and series of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. The purpose of this “Sterling Edition” is to make it as easy as possible to read, study, and mark these healing books. In just a few weeks, these books will be available for pre-orders in paperback, hardcover, and navy blue leather bindings. Slightly larger in size than the popular Newtype Edition, originally published in the 1950s, the page size of the Sterling Edition will be 6" by 9".
About the covers
The hardcover Sterling Edition books
The cover artwork on the paperback and hardcover books is taken directly from a window in the Original Edifice of The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The “Window of the Open Book” is a large rose window featuring an open Science and Health in its center, and was a gift from the then-Directors of The Mother Church. The window's theme is “The New Jerusalem” (see Science and Health, pp. 574-575). Joseph Armstrong noted in his book Building of The Mother Church, “The rounded central light was the proper place for an open Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. This suggested the name ‘Window of the Open Book,’ signifying that the radiance from this new revelation shows the meaning of all the Bible promises and prophecies, as symbolized by the figures surrounding the center” (p. 46).
