Lucy May had been rejoicing over taking part in a program as one of eight girls, but on the day of the last rehearsal she was disappointed.

Some of the players seemed to have difficulty in remembering their parts, and the teacher expressed the belief that this number would have to be omitted from the program.

She told Lucy May's mother that she had counted on this being a particularly beautiful and colorful number, and expressed regret that the difficulty should have arisen.
