Students of Christian Science are grateful for the knowledge...

Students of Christian Science are grateful for the knowledge and the demonstration that divine justice is greater than human law, and that divine law is more powerful than human belief, always and everywhere.

Some time ago, I was involved in litigation concerning a large sum of money. In fact, the life savings of a friend were apparently at stake. After many hearings before the Supreme Court of the state, the judge handed down his decision. It was adverse, and denied in every respect the relief sought. Since an appeal to a higher court was not here available, the only seeming hope was to induce the judge to consider reargument. With this in thought I called at the judge's chambers in the court house. I was not even permitted to see him, and his secretary insisted that never were such rearguments permitted in such a case.

For a period of three weeks thereafter I paid almost daily visits to the judge's chambers in an effort to secure a rehearing, all to no purpose. On the last day of the month I was advised that further visits would be worse than futile, since I would find the offices closed while the judge was out of the city on a month's vacation. I returned to my office, feeling as if all hope had gone.
