Applying the Golden Rule

In Luke 6:31, we find these words of Jesus, "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." In Matthew 7:12, a more expanded statement of the same thought is expressed in Jesus' words, "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them, for this is the law and the prophets."
This rule of conduct, given to his followers by the Way-shower, has been named the Golden Rule, and aptly so. Gold is known the world over as the precious metal, and one of Webster's definitions of the word "precious" is "of great worth in an immaterial way, as morally or spiritually."
