Learning about God helps us learn
After thinking about my natural expression of intelligence as God’s child, I had no further trouble in school.
We might ask, “Why is understanding God important?” Mary Baker Eddy’s book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures gives an answer: “If God were understood instead of being merely believed, this understanding would establish health” (p. 203).
If we take health in its broadest sense, we are talking about health not only of body and mind but of church, community, environment, relationships, and other spheres of life. In this light, it’s even clearer why understanding God is highly important.
One way to more fully understand God, Spirit, and learn about His nature is to think deeply about the qualities of God—which are spiritual—recognize that we naturally express those qualities as God’s offspring, and put them into practice in our lives. Over many years, this practice has improved many aspects of my life. A significant example is how my ability to learn improved as a child and continues even today.
