Foreshadowed
Many thanks to Diane Marrapodi for her courage and honesty (“Healing after sexual abuse,” Sentinel, January 8, 2018). The #MeToo and similar movements worldwide that expose sexual abuse and harassment were, it seems to me, foreshadowed in Mary Baker Eddy’s essay “Ways that are Vain” in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany—especially beginning on page 211, line 3. May Ms. Marrapodi’s article comfort and bless not only those who have been abused, but also those whom animal magnetism has tricked into becoming abusers.

Reinstated practice of sharing
[Why …? Suzanne Smedley, “Why share the periodicals?” Sentinel, January 1, 2018]
Thank you for validating our recent branch church activity. We recently decided to reinstate our practice of sharing The Christian Science Journal, Sentinel, Herald, and Monitor in all laundromats within five miles of our church location. In our prayerful process to include all members, thought was invigorated, and we immediately saw an influx in church service attendance.
