Purposeful living

Whatever our activity or profession, each of us has a primary spiritual purpose—that is, to love and obey God. We fulfill this divine purpose in our prayerful efforts to heal and bless mankind. If the human sense of life appears very competitive, and an aggressive “winner takes all” approach seems to dominate our experience, I’ve found it’s helpful to consider where the real power is: in the one all-powerful God, divine Mind.

Praying in this way gives us dominion over aggression, and it nurtures a conviction that Mind, divine intelligence, is governing each and every one of its spiritual ideas—the true identity of all of us. It removes the limiting belief that there is only so much good to go around.

When our motive is to achieve a spiritualized consciousness, to think and act in accord with our spiritual identity as the reflection of the divine Mind, God, we start to see self-will eliminated. We also begin to let go of the tendency to measure others, or ourselves, as inferior or superior—because we understand that material attributes do not determine our success or failure.
