Truth is true for everyone
When I was growing up, my mother and I knew a Christian Science practitioner who was like family to us. We felt so loved by her, and over the years of asking her for Christian Science treatment, we had experienced plentiful healing results. When I would call, she seemed to know right away what spiritual insights I needed. I always wondered how she could be so perceptive.
Many years later, one of her granddaughters shared with me a letter in which this practitioner explained that she’d found her healing work was more effective when she realized and affirmed that the truth was true not just for herself or her patient, but for everyone.
This was a reminder to me that prayer in the highest sense goes beyond looking to God to meet our personal needs. It is an acknowledgement of the truth that divine Love embraces all and maintains everyone’s wholeness, joy, and perfection. This is why Christ Jesus was able to heal multitudes.
