God’s unfolding purpose
Once a flower bud begins to open, it keeps on opening. My experience taking class instruction in Christian Science was exactly the same: Once the idea began to unfold, nothing could keep it from blossoming fully.
When I applied for class instruction, my financial resources were limited. I prayed with Mary Baker Eddy’s assurance of God’s gentle yet firm guidance: “Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 506). I was like that flower, unfolding according to God’s holy purpose for me, and nothing could stop it.
My journey toward taking class instruction began when I attended a lecture on Christian Science in Spanish. The spirituality of the message touched me so much that, upon learning the lecturer was also a Christian Science teacher, I asked him to accept me as a student in his next class.
