A quick end to nausea

A little over a year ago, I experienced a healing that epitomizes for me spiritual healing through Christian Science treatment. It was quick; it effectively and permanently put an end to the physical symptoms; and it left me with a deeper insight into God’s nature, which I have returned to on many occasions since.

I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night feeling very nauseous and unwell. Admittedly, my first thought was “Oh no!” and I was bombarded with fears of a long, miserable, and sleepless rest of the night. However, as quickly as that dread started flooding in, there was something in my consciousness that instinctively rebelled. I knew that the intuition to reject the thought of suffering wasn’t just human optimism; it was a conviction I’ve gained from my study of Christian Science that though illness seems to be a reality, it is actually just an illusion of material sense.

As I lay awake, I began thinking about a sentence I had read recently in the Christian Science Bible Lesson: “It is only by acknowledging the supremacy of Spirit, which annuls the claims of matter, that mortals can lay off mortality and find the indissoluble spiritual link which establishes man forever in the divine likeness, inseparable from his creator” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 491).
