The following was written in support of Church Alive, a focus of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, that explores the meaning and possibilities of awakening to the spiritual basis and impact of Church.

Sunday School students learn from each other

Sunday School teachers aren’t the only ones with thoughts to share with their students. The students also have each other!

Our students are active in after-school activities such as sports and dance and drama. Over the years our church has enjoyed sharing in the success of our students in various activities by attending their games and shows. When two of our older students went to the state soccer championships this year, we realized that some of the younger students might enjoy hearing and learning from our older students. So one Sunday we held a joint Sunday School class and had a discussion about how, as Christian Scientists, they approach athletics and other activities.

The younger students were treated to a discussion on questions such as: How do you, as a Christian Scientist, prepare for a game? How do you view your opponents? How do you handle bad calls by the refs or judges?
