Hemorrhage and pain healed through prayer

During the 26 years that I've been studying Christian Science and relying on the understanding of God that it presents, I've had many healings of physical difficulties through prayer alone. These healings have given me a sound basis for trusting my health to God's care. One particular instance stands out above all the others, in that it required a lot of patience and faith in God and persistent prayer over many months to calm my fears and establish the kind of reliance on God that made me truly expect healing.

For about five or six months, I had been suffering from the symptoms of what I feared might be cervical cancer. I was bleeding profusely, apart from my monthly menstrual cycle. And in the middle of the night and early morning hours, I would be awakened out of my sleep by excruciating pain in my lower abdomen. The pain was so severe I could find no comfortable position, either sitting up or lying down. So, until morning, I would twist and turn, or get out of bed and pace the floor. I became so tormented by this discomfort that I dreaded going to bed at night.

I did not tell my family about this, as I didn't want to frighten them. And because of my confidence in God's love for me and His healing power, I decided to seek healing through Christian Science practice and prayer. I started by recalling spiritual truths concerning my identity as God's perfect spiritual creation. I had come to know God as the infinite divine Mind and myself as a perfect spiritual idea, designed and maintained by that Mind. I lived with truths such as these, affirming and relying on them constantly in prayer.
