Holy moments
Many individuals, when they're seeking God, know those holy moments—moments when they feel the touch of the Christ. Something happens; there's a sudden awakening to God's power and His goodness. And if we were in need of healing, we discover we've been healed. We realize the freeing truth Mrs. Eddy speaks of in Science and Health: "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well. Sorrow is turned into joy when the body is controlled by spiritual Life, Truth, and Love." Science and Health, p. 14.
How can we realize more completely those moments of joy when we perceive our true spiritual unity with God and feel the touch of His healing Christ? A beginning may be to start with gratitude that the Christ, Truth, is always present in our consciousness because each of us is in reality God's divine idea, His spiritual expression, man. We feel the touch of Christ in moments of receptiveness, when we're willing to let go of material trusts and lean wholly on God.
What does it mean to let go of material trusts? And how do we lean wholly on God? Considering the second question first is helpful because we then have a basis for letting go of the belief in material supports. To lean wholly on God means to depend on His supremacy; He is divine infinite Principle, the absolutely good creator of man and the universe. Our true selfhood as His idea, man, is God's expression. God and man are one in that they are inseparable from each other as Principle and idea. This is what we can lean on and trust—God's ability and willingness to maintain His man and provide all that man needs in order to be His full and perfect expression.
